Evidence-and Technology-Driven Research for Child and Youth Peacebuilding

Are you looking for the missing research, evaluation, or evidence base to strengthen your organization’s impact on children and youth in conflict zones or high-adversity contexts? Are you missing the data, insights, or strategies that turn good intentions into measurable impact?
IL provides research design, assessment, and evaluation services that strengthen peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development programming for children and youth living in conflict-affected and high-adversity contexts.
Each project is tailored to the needs of local partners and implemented in stages—from context analysis and design to evaluation and iterative improvement.
We specialize in direct research and program support using media and communication research methodologies and technology-enabled tools to enhance the design, monitoring, and impact of child- and youth-centered initiatives.
Research Areas and Services
• Context Analysis — Encode local cultural contexts into program design, working backward from conflict conditions to address root causes through culturally grounded communication and peacebuilding strategies.
• Conflict Mapping — Identify macro- and micro-level conflict causes and triggers to inform policy, design, and operational decision-making.
• Asset Mapping — Assess organizational and community resources that can be leveraged for program design, resilience, and sustainability.
• Needs Assessment — Identify and prioritize community and population needs requiring targeted interventions.
• Program Development — Design evidence-based, contextually relevant peacebuilding and protection initiatives for specific populations.
• Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) — Measure program effectiveness, strengthen feedback systems, and inform future implementation.
• Child-Centered Research Design — Use media, communication, and technology tools to understand children’s media practices, interpretive processes, and intergroup attitudes.
• Youth-Centered Research Design — Apply participatory, media-based, and technology-enabled approaches to design and evaluate youth-led peacebuilding initiatives.
